Lantronix launches AI-Powered edge gateway for smart grid control | Edge Industry Review
Lantronix, a provider of advanced IoT solutions, has launched SmartLV, the first AI-enabled IoT Edge Compute Cellular Gateway, powered by Qualcomm’s IQ-615 processor.
SmartLV is designed for low-voltage substations and distribution automation in smart grids and industrial applications. The gateway enhances real-time visibility, control, and automation for Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
“The SmartLV Gateway is a leap forward in empowering utility operators with critical, real-time insights and control over their low-voltage substations,” said Mathi Gurusamy, Chief Strategy Officer at Lantronix. “By utilizing Qualcomm Technologies’ AI technology, this solution helps to address today’s most pressing challenges at the edge of the smart grid.”
It features advanced cybersecurity protocols and AI capabilities for secure operations in mission-critical applications. SmartLV enables intelligent energy steering and dynamic decision-making at the edge, optimizing energy flow.
Key features include multi-protocol communication, high-speed LTE and 5G connectivity, and edge computing for real-time decisions. The device is fortified with Lantronix’s InfiniShield security framework to protect against cyber threats.
SmartLV is set to launch in CY 2025, with trials beginning at the end of CY 2024 for selected DSOs.
The product is a result of a 15-year collaboration between Lantronix and Qualcomm Technologies.
